Zara Patel, the British-Indian woman whose video was employed in the making of a popular deepfake featuring actor Rashmika Mandanna, expressed being "profoundly disturbed" by the occurrence. Through an Instagram statement, Patel clarified that she played no role in the deepfake's creation and conveyed her deep distress and unease regarding its existence.
Encouraging social media users to authenticate all online content before sharing, she emphasized that "not everything on the internet is real."
A clip featuring British-Indian influencer Zara Patel entering an elevator became the basis for a remarkably convincing deepfake video starring actor Rashmika Mandanna. The deepfake seamlessly alters Patel's face into that of Mandanna as she steps into the elevator. The creator of the deepfake remains unidentified. On Instagram Stories, Patel addressed the controversy, stating, "Hello everyone, I've become aware that a deepfake video was made using my body and the face of a well-known Bollywood actress. I want to clarify that I had no part in creating this deepfake video, and I'm profoundly troubled and distressed by this situation."

Actor Rashmika Mandanna released a statement regarding the deepfake, including a mention of the cyber police in her tweet.
She writes "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused"
