Nepal Earthquake : In the northwestern regions of Nepal, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.4 in magnitude struck late Friday night, causing significant devastation in Jajarkot and Rukum districts.

Location :The earthquake in Nepal struck at a depth of 10 km, transpiring at a latitude of 28.84 N and a longitude of 82.19 E.

 According to Nepal Television, approximately 129 individuals, including the Deputy Mayor of Jajarkot, have tragically lost their lives, while over 150 people sustained injuries in the aftermath of the seismic event. The National Earthquake Measurement Centre reported the earthquake's epicenter was situated in the Lamidanda area of Jajarkot district, approximately 150 kilometers away from Kathmandu, the capital city. The impact of the quake was also felt in Delhi ,Uttar Pradesh ,Bihar and nearby areas.



According to reports from Reuters, an official in Jajarkot confirmed the loss of at least 34 lives in the district, while police officials reported 35 fatalities in Rukum West district. Additionally, 30 injured individuals have been transported to the local hospital for treatment. Footage and images circulated on social media depicted local residents digging through debris in darkness to rescue survivors, as numerous homes and structures collapsed during the strong tremors. Jajarkot district chief Suresh Sunar, as cited by the AFP news agency, expressed concerns that the casualty count may escalate as the situation unfolds.


Nepal's Prime Minister's Office declared that all three of the country's security agencies have been activated to swiftly undertake rescue and relief efforts for the injured. The home ministry has reported instances of injuries and property damage in various districts, including Dailekh, Salyan, and Rolpa.



Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal conveyed his condolences in the wake of the earthquake. A tweet read, "Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed deep sorrow over the human and material losses from the earthquake in Ramidanda, Jajarkot, at 11:47 on Friday night. He has mobilized all three security agencies for immediate rescue and relief of the injured." Additionally, there were observed effects in India.
